BSL/English interpreters relay conversation between deaf British Sign Language users and hearing people. The interpreter will translate BSL into spoken English and spoken English into BSL for easy communication between both parties.
SSP's provide a clear impartial advice and appropriate support such as; interpretation of results, they provide advice, 1:1 tutoring and direct teaching through an enriched language input though individualised learning programmes. They can also provide generic support, subject specialism and signposting to further opportunities.
A note taker will make a comprehensive although non-verbatim record of the content of lectures, seminars, discussions in the student’s preferred style and format. This may include:
BSL;
We provide BSL on a 2 or 3 hour minimum basis, the chosen minimum must be detailed on DSA2 award.
Specialist Support Professionals;
We will only provide SSP in conjunction with BSL interpreter support (ie. We must be named on AoN for both roles or currently providing BSL).
If any of the above support is required of an evening (after 5pm) or a weekend a 50% uplift will be applied to rates.
Please ensure this is detailed on a DSA Study Needs Assessment/DSA2 letter.
